Our
history.
The Maccarelli family, deeply connected to the Umbrian territory, has turned its passion for these lands into a unique project. On the hills of Passignano sul Trasimeno and Tuoro sul Trasimeno, we cultivate organic vineyards and olive groves, producing wines and extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
We combine tradition, innovation and sustainability to offer products that reflect the essence of Umbria. This commitment is also reflected in the hospitality of our relais, offering a complete experience of excellence and connection with the land.
Vineyard
The Rancaglione vineyard, at an altitude of 500 m (1,500 ft), is one of the highest in the district, organically farmed and surrounded by woods that provide exceptional biodiversity. The soil, the result of a landslide 9,000 years ago, is rich in calcareous marl, giving the wines flavor and minerality. The microclimate of the lake and cool winds from the heights give the wines freshness and complexity. The Tuoro vineyard, on clay soil, is perfect for growing our Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese.
Olive trees
Our olive groves, spread over 12 hectares at 500 meters above sea level on the hills that embrace Lake Trasimeno, are home to majestic olive trees more than 100 years old. The rare Dolce Agogia variety, grown almost exclusively on the shores of the lake, is flanked by Leccino, Moraiolo and Frantoio, resulting in a soft and elegant extra virgin oil with fruity and mineral notes. Everything is grown according to organic farming principles, respecting the environment.
The winery
Our winery, located in the hills of Passignano sul Trasimeno, was born from the transformation of an old shed into a modern and innovative space. We do not have the century-long experience of the big names in wine, but we bring with us a young and dynamic vision, with a desire to innovate and experiment.
Our goal is to make wine an inclusive experience, open to all, breaking traditional patterns with passion, courage and an eye toward the future.
